2. FORECAST (12 DECEMBER - 18 DECEMBER)
Solar: Low to moderate. Newly numbered region 521 appears
to be the return of old region 501 which produced a
number of M-class flares on its last rotation. There
has been little development or activity from this region
up to report issue.
Geomagnetic: Mostly Unsettled with Storm level intervals possible. At
report issue a high speed coronal hole wind stream is
persisting, causing extended periods of elevated
geomagnetic activity. This wind stream should decline
in the first half of the week.
Frequencies: Depressed 20 to 30% on 12-Dec, depressed 15 to 20% on
13-15 Dec,depressed 15% briefly after local dawn on
18-Dec, otherwise MUFs near normal. SWFs possible.
PLEASE NOTE:
At this time of the solar cycle, space weather conditions
are frequently determined by short timescale events, not
able to be forecasted a week in advance.
