Solar activity on UT day 18-Aug is expected to be at R1, chance R2
levels. A weak shock was observed in the solar wind on 17-Aug due to a
CME arrival. The solar wind speed is expected to be light to moderate.
A brief period of G1 conditions in the Australian region (G3
planetary) have been observed. Generally G0 conditions are expected
for today with the chance of G1 conditions early in the UT day. HF
communication conditions in southern region Australia were degraded
last night. HF conditions are expected to be fair to normal for today
with maximum usable frequencies near to 25% above predicted monthly
values. No significant ionospheric depression followed the brief
overnight geomagnetic activity. Isolated shortwave fadeouts are
probable.
