SUBJ: ASWFC DAILY SOLAR AND GEOPHYSICAL REPORT
ISSUED AT 2330UT/13 SEPTEMBER 2026
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE WEATHER FORECASTING CENTRE
SUMMARY FOR 13 SEPTEMBER AND FORECAST FOR 14 SEPTEMBER - 16 SEPTEMBER
STATUS INDICATORS SOL:GREEN MAG:** YELLOW ** ION: GREEN
ASWAS SCALE DESCRIPTION: https://bit.ly/3lmaMBx
-----------------------------------------------------------
1A. SOLAR SUMMARY
Activity 13 Sep: R0
Flares: none.
Observed 10.7 cm flux/Equivalent Sunspot Number for 13 Sep: 114/65
1B. SOLAR FORECAST
14 Sep 15 Sep 16 Sep
Activity R0 R0 R0
Fadeouts None expected None expected None expected
10.7cm/SSN 105/54 100/48 95/41
COMMENT: Solar flare activity on UT day 13-Sep was R0, with no
solar flares. There are currently seven numbered sunspot regions
on the solar disk, however all regions are either stable or in
decay with little potential for flaring. Solar flare activity
is expected to be R0 over 14-16 Sep. A filament erupted in the
solar southwest near S10W10 from 19:16 UT. An associated CME
was observed, however further imagery is required before an analysis
can be made as to whether it will affect the Earth. S0 solar
radiation storm conditions were observed on UT day 13-Sep. S0
solar radiation storm conditions are expected over 14-16 Sep.
On UT day 13-Sep the solar wind environment was mostly near background
levels. The solar wind speed ranged from 330 rising to near 445
km/s. The peak total interplanetary field strength (IMF, Bt)
was 6 nT the north-south IMF component range (Bz) was +4 to -6
nT. The solar wind environment is expected to become enhanced
on UT day 14-Sep due to connection with a coronal hole; this
will be followed by a second coronal hole on 15-Sep. The solar
wind will remain enhanced on 16-Sep due to ongoing effects.

Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be
well correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic
survey flight-line data.
NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and International Center for Space Weather
Science and Education, Japan.
Estimated AFr/Ap Indices 13 Sep : A

Planetary 10
Observed AFr/Ap Indices 12 Sep : A K

2B. MAGNETIC FORECAST
Date Ap Conditions
14 Sep 16 G1
15 Sep 24 G2
16 Sep 16 G0-G1, chance G2
COMMENT: ASWFC Geomagnetic Warning 55 was issued on 13 September
and is current for 13-15 Sep. G0 geomagnetic conditions were
observed in the Australian region on UT day 13-Sep. G0-G1 geomagnetic
conditions were observed in the Antarctic region. G1 geomagnetic
conditions are expected on UT day 14-Sep due to the anticipated
connection of a coronal hole; this is expected to be followed
by a second connection with a different coronal hole on 15-Sep.
Due to the second coronal hole, G2 geomagnetic conditions are
expected on 15-Sep, and conditions may begin easing on 16-Sep.

3A. GLOBAL HF PROPAGATION SUMMARY

Date Low Middle High
13 Sep Normal Normal Normal
PCA Event : No event.
3B. GLOBAL HF PROPAGATION FORECAST
Latitude Band
Date Low Middle High
14 Sep Normal-fair Fair Fair
15 Sep Fair Fair Fair
16 Sep Normal-fair Fair Fair
COMMENT: HF radio propagation conditions on UT day 13-Sep were
mostly normal. HF radio propagation conditions may become degraded
on 14-Sep due to anticipated geomagnetic activity, which will
likely continue over 15-16 Sep.

Date T index MUFs
14 Sep 65 Near predicted monthly values
15 Sep 55 Near predicted monthly values to 15% depressed
16 Sep 55 Near predicted monthly values to 15% depressed
COMMENT: Maximum usable frequencies (MUFs) in the Australian
region on UT day 13-Sep were mostly near predicted values. MUFs
are expected to be mostly near predicted values on 14-Sep. MUFs
may become 15% depressed over 15-16 Sep due to anticipated geomagnetic
activity.
