COMMENT: Solar flare activity on UT day 8-Sep was R0, with no
solar flares. There are currently nine numbered sunspot regions
on the solar disk, however all regions are currently stable.
Mostly R0 solar flare conditions are expected over 9-11 Sep.
No Earth directed CMEs were observed on UT day 8-Sep. S0 solar
radiation storm conditions were observed on UT day 8-Sep. S0
solar radiation storm conditions are expected over 9-11 Sep.
The solar wind environment on UT day 8-Sep was mildly perturbed
due to the ongoing disturbance from yesterday. The solar wind
speed ranged from 600 to 445 km/s and is currently declining.
The peak total interplanetary field strength (IMF, Bt) was 8
nT and the north-south IMF component range (Bz) was +5 to -5
nT. The solar wind is expected to undergo a further disturbance
as two CMEs are anticipated to arrive within the next 24 hours,
although the first of the CMEs may have missed the Earth. The
solar wind may begin to return to background levels over 10-11
Sep.

Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be
well correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic
survey flight-line data.
NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and International Center for Space Weather
Science and Education, Japan.

COMMENT: ASWFC Geomagnetic Warning 54 was issued on 7 September
and is current for 7-9 Sep. G1 geomagnetic conditions were observed
in the Australian region on UT day 8-Sep. G0-G3 geomagnetic conditions
were observed in the Antarctic region. G0-G1 geomagnetic conditions
are expected on UT day 9-Sep due to the anticipated arrival of
two CMEs, with a chance for G2. Mostly G0 geomagnetic conditions
are expected over 10-11 Sep, with a lingering chance of G1 on
10-Sep.

COMMENT: HF radio propagation conditions on UT day 8-Sep were
mildly degraded, particularly for local nighttime hours. Conditions
started returning to normal towards the end of the day. HF radio
propagation conditions may be similarly degraded on UT day 9-Sep
due to further anticipated geomagnetic activity, clearing up
over 10-11 Sep.

values over 9-11 Sep, with some further nighttime depressions
of 15% possible over 9-10 Sep.
