COMMENT: Solar activity on UT day 2-Sep was R1, with an isolated
long-duration M3 class solar flare peaking at 1922 UT. This
flare originated from a sunspot region on the eastern solar limb,
and is not yet well visible enough for analysis. Otherwise, there
are currently seven other sunspot regions on the solar disk,
all of which are either stable or in decay. Solar flare activity
is expected to be R0-R1 over 3-5 Sep. A filament was observed
erupting off the eastern limb from the solar flare location.
A CME was associated with this event and launched off the eastern
limb. Preliminary analysis does not indicate an Earth impact, however
current available information is insufficient to finalise the
forecast. No other potentially Earth directed CMEs were observed
on UT day 2-Sep. S0 solar radiation storm conditions were observed
on UT day 2-Sep. S0 solar radiation storm conditions are expected
over 3-5 Sep. The solar wind environment on UT day 2-Sep was
at background levels. The solar wind speed ranged 340 and 400
km/s. The peak total interplanetary field strength (IMF, Bt)
was 6 nT and the north-south IMF component range (Bz) was +5
to -4 nT. A weak CME impact is expected by the end of 3-Sep,
however given the current solar wind speed is faster than this
CME's estimated velocity an impact is likely to be noticed. Otherwise,
the solar wind is expected to be at background levels over 3-5
Sep.

of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be
well correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic
survey flight-line data.

night hours across the globe. HF radio propagation conditions
