COMMENT: Solar flare activity on UT day 01-Sep was at the R0
level, with a C5.7 flare from the eastern limb being the largest
observed. There are currently four active sunspot regions on
the disk, with Active Region (AR) 4521 (N08E52, alpha) being
the largest. This region has appeared stable over the past UT
day, with all other regions on the disk either stable or in decay.
Solar flare activity is forecast to remain at the R0 level over
02-04 Sep, with a chance of R1 on 03-04 Sep due to observed activity
on the eastern limb suggesting a new active region may soon rotate
onto the front side of the solar disk. S0 solar radiation storm
conditions were observed on 01-Sep, with the solar proton flux
at background levels throughout the UT day. S0 solar radiation
conditions are forecast over 02-04 Sep. No coronal mass ejections
(CMEs) were observed over the past UT day in available coronagraph
imagery. The solar wind speed was light throughout 01-Sep, mostly
ranging between 370-410 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic field
strength (IMF, Bt) peaked at 6 nT, with the north-south component
(Bz) ranging between -6 and +5 nT over the UT day. The solar
wind speed is expected to remain light over 02-04 Sep, with a
small increase possible on 03-Sep due to a minor glancing impact
from a CME first observed on 30-Aug.

of 20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be
well correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic
survey flight-line data.

COMMENT: Geomagnetic conditions in the Australian region were
at the G0 level on 01-Sep, with G0 conditions also recorded in
the Antarctic region, and at the planetary level. G0 conditions
are forecast over 02-04 Sep, with a glancing impact from a CME
first observed on 30-Aug unlikely to cause significant geomagnetic
activity.

COMMENT: Global high-frequency (HF) radio propagation conditions
were mostly normal on UT day 01-Sep, with some degradations observed
in North American and European regions at high- and mid-latitudes
early in the UT day. Global HF propagation conditions are forecast
to remain mostly normal over 02-04 Sep.

COMMENT: Maximum Usable Frequencies (MUFs) in the Australian
region on 01-Sep were mostly near predicted monthly values, with
some mild depressions observed during local night hours at Niue
Island. Mild spread-F was observed in the southern Australian
region, with strong spread-F observed at Hobart. MUFs are forecast
to remain near predicted monthly values over 02-04 Sep.
