COMMENT: Solar flare activity was at the R0 level on 29-Jul,
with no M-class or greater flares observed. There are currently
seven numbered and one unnumbered sunspot regions on the visible
solar disk, with Active Region (AR) 4498 (N15E51, beta) being
the largest. This region has remained stable over the past 24
hours. AR 4499 (N04E20, beta) has shown some growth over the
same period. A new unnumbered region appeared at S12E18, showing
significant growth and exhibiting a gamma magnetic classification.
All other regions are either stable or in decay. Solar flare
activity is forecast to remain at the R0 level over 30-Jul to
01-Aug, with a chance of R1 due to the high number of active
regions on the disk. S0 solar radiation storm conditions were
observed throughout 29-Jul, with S0 solar radiation conditions
forecast over 30-Jul to 01-Aug. No Earth-directed coronal mass
ejections (CMEs) were observed in available coronagraph imagery
over the past UT day. The solar wind speed was light across the
UT day, ranging between 350-370 km/s. The interplanetary magnetic
field strength (IMF, Bt) peaked at 7 nT early in the UT day,
with the north-south component (Bz) ranging between -4 and +3
nT over the UT day. The solar wind is forecast to remain mostly
light over 30-Jul to 01-Aug, with a slight rise possible on 31-Jul
due to a glancing impact of a CME first observed on 27-Jul.

of 20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be
well correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic
survey flight-line data.

COMMENT: Geomagnetic conditions in the Australian region were
at the G0 level over 29-Jul, with G0 conditions also reported
at the planetary level. Mostly G0 conditions were recorded in
the Antarctic region, with an isolated G1 interval observed at
Mawson early in the UT day. G0 geomagnetic conditions are forecast
over 30-Jul to 01-Aug, with no significant geomagnetic events
forecast over the period.

COMMENT: Maximum Usable Frequencies (MUFs) in the Australian
region over 29-Jul were near predicted values to 20% enhanced,
with strong enhancements seen in the southern Australian region.
Sporadic E was observed at Canberra and Norfolk Island, with
spread-F also observed at Townsville and Learmonth. MUFs are
forecast to remain near predicted monthly values over 30-Jul
to 01-Aug, with enhancements of up to 15% possible over the period.
