SUBJ: SWS DAILY SOLAR AND GEOPHYSICAL REPORT
ISSUED AT 2330UT/27 JANUARY 2018 BY Space Weather Services
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE
SUMMARY FOR 27 JANUARY AND FORECAST FOR 28 JANUARY - 30 JANUARY
STATUS INDICATORS SOL:GREEN MAG:GREEN ION: GREEN
-----------------------------------------------------------
1A. SOLAR SUMMARY
Activity 27 Jan: Very low
Flares: none.
Observed 10.7 cm flux/Equivalent Sunspot Number for 27 Jan: 69/3
1B. SOLAR FORECAST
28 Jan 29 Jan 30 Jan
Activity Very low Very low Very low to low
Fadeouts None expected None expected None expected
10.7cm/SSN 69/3 69/3 69/3
COMMENT: Solar activity was Very Low for 27Jan. Solar wind speed
decreased from ~470km/s at 00UT to be ~400km/s at the time of
this report. Bz, the north-south component of the IMF ranged
between +2 and -4nT over the UT day, with a notable sustained
southward period between 07UT-13UT. Solar wind parameters are
expected to be enhanced at times over the next 3 days due to
minor coronal hole effects. Very Low levels of solar activity
are expected for the next 3 days as the visible disk is currently
spotless.

Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be
well correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic
survey flight-line data.
NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and International Center for Space Weather
Science and Education, Japan.
Estimated AFr/Ap Indices 27 Jan : A

29 Jan 8 Quiet to Unsettled
30 Jan 8 Quiet to Unsettled
COMMENT: Quiet conditions observed for the AUS/NZ region for
27Jan. Mostly Quiet conditions expected for the next 3 days with
possible isolated Unsettled to Active periods due to minor coronal
hole effects.
