SUBJ: IPS DAILY SOLAR AND GEOPHYSICAL REPORT
ISSUED AT 2330UT/15 SEPTEMBER 2012 BY IPS RADIO AND SPACE SERVICES
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE
SUMMARY FOR 15 SEPTEMBER AND FORECAST FOR 16 SEPTEMBER - 18 SEPTEMBER
STATUS INDICATORS SOL:GREEN MAG:GREEN ION: GREEN
-----------------------------------------------------------
1A. SOLAR SUMMARY
Activity 15 Sep: Very low

Flares: none.

Observed 10.7 cm flux/Equivalent Sunspot Number for 15 Sep: 98/45

1B. SOLAR FORECAST
             16 Sep 17 Sep 18 Sep
Activity Very Low Very Low Very Low
Fadeouts None expected None expected None expected
10.7cm/SSN 95/41 95/41 95/41

COMMENT: Solar activity was Very Low over the UT day. Only some
B-class flares were observed. The current spot groups are not
particularly active, solar activity is expected to be predominately
at Very Low levels over the next 3 days. New region 1572(N15W70)
was numbered today. No possible geoeffective CMEs were observed
during 15 September. The solar wind speed remained moderate(400-460km/s)and
the Bz component of the IMF fluctuated between +/-4nT during
15 September. There is a chance that solar wind speed may slightly
increase late in the UT day on 16 September due to September
13 CME minor effects.

2A. MAGNETIC SUMMARY

Geomagnetic field for Australian Region 15 Sep: Quiet

Estimated Indices 15 Sep : A K

Estimated Antarctic Regional K Indices 15 Sep :
      Macquarie Island 3 1212010-
      Casey 14 44421222
      Mawson 15 44222234

Observed Regional daily pc3 Indices 15 Sep :
      Darwin 0 (Quiet)
      Townsville 0 (Quiet)

      Gnangara 10 (Quiet)
      Canberra 8 (Quiet)

Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be
well correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic
survey flight-line data.

NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and Space Environment Research Center, Japan.

Estimated AFr/Ap Indices 15 Sep : A
           Fredericksburg 6
           Planetary 7

Observed AFr/Ap Indices 14 Sep : A K

COMMENT: The geomagnetic field was mostly Quiet in the Australian
region with some Active periods in the Antarctic region over
the UT day. Minor effect from September 13 CME may cause Unsettled
conditions late on 16 and early 17 September.
