[ips-sf] ASWFC Summary Forecast for 06 January - issued 0120UT/06-Jan-2023 [SEC=OFFICIAL]

An R3 solar flare has been observed at 06/0058UT from the new solar
region AR3182 in the southeast solar quadrant at S18E68. A strong HF
fadeout has been observed in association with this flare in the
Australian region. Solar activity on UT day 06-Jan is expected to be
at R0-R1 levels, with the chance of an isolated R2 event. A new
moderately large solar region has rotated onto the solar disk over the
southeast solar limb and solar activity may increase in coming days.
The solar wind is expected to be light. G0 geomagnetic conditions are
expected. Southern Australian region maximum usable frequencies are
expected to be initially depressed 15-20%, slowly recovering during
the local day today. Northern Australian region MUFs are expected to
be near predicted monthly values to 15% enhanced. Isolated shortwave
fadeouts are probable.
