Solar activity was at very low levels during UT day 1 March. Very low
to low levels of solar activity are expected for the next 3 UT days.
The solar wind speed increased to very strong values due to the
recurrent coronal hole effect, currently at 720 km/s. During the next
24 h the speed is expected to remain very strong. Geomagnetic activity
was at quiet to minor storm levels across the Australian region on UT
day 1 March. The Australian Dst index reached -55 nT. Similar
geomagnetic conditions are expected for 2 March. MUFs were mostly near
predicted monthly values during UT day 1 March. However, minor to
moderate MUF depressions and degradations in HF conditions due to
increased geomagnetic activity were observed during the last half of 1
March. Minor to moderate MUF depressions and degradations in HF
conditions are also expected for the next UT day, 2 March.
