>From the perspective of the Earth, solar activity is presently very
low. The sun spot number is only 34. The Coronal Mass Ejections
observed by space telescopes during the previous 24 hours are not
Earthward pointing. These CMEs were associated with active solar
regions on the far side of the sun. A low latitude coronal hole is
approaching the central meridian of the solar disk and the associated
fast speed stream is expected to impact the Earth about 28 March. The
solar wind speed and geomagnetic activity were enhanced at the same
time during the previous solar rotation cycle. A minor geomagnetic
storm is possible during 28 to 29 March. A new sunspot group has
appeared on the eastern limb of the sun and may also develop into a
significant source of activity. For now, the solar wind conditions
near Earth are light and are expected to remain light to moderate
during the next two days. Geomagnetic conditions have been quiet and
are expected to remain mostly quiet. High-frequency radio
communications are expected to remain close to normal or slightly
below normal because of the decreasing solar UV radiation. No short
wave fadeouts are expected.
