COMMENT: Solar activity is at low levels with a single C1 x-ray
flare from region 2381(N16W73). Solar wind conditions continue
to show the influence of a coronal hole high speed wind stream
with speeds between 450-550 km/s and Bt up to 10nT. Bz has been
mostly northward over the last 24 hours. Flare activity is expected
to be very low to low over the next 3 days and solar wind conditions
are expected to relax to nominal conditions.

Observed Regional daily pc3 Indices 14 Jul :
      Darwin 0 (Quiet)
      Townsville 0 (Quiet)

      Canberra 4 (Quiet)
      Melbourne 4 (Quiet)

Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be
well correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic
survey flight-line data.

NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and International Center for Space Weather
Science and Education, Japan.

4B. AUSTRALIAN REGION IONOSPHERIC FORECAST
Date T index MUFs
15 Jul 65 Near predicted monthly values
16 Jul 60 Depressed 15%/near predicted monthly values
17 Jul 60 Depressed 15%/near predicted monthly values

COMMENT: IPS HF Communications Warning 23 was issued on 14 July
and is current for 15-17 Jul. MUF depressions of up to 20% have
been seen across much of the Australian region over the last
24 hours. These conditions are due to low levels of ionising
solar flux. Flux levels are expected to drop further keeping
MUFs depressed for the next 3 days.
