SUBJ: IPS DAILY SOLAR AND GEOPHYSICAL REPORT
ISSUED AT 2330UT/22 SEPTEMBER 2014 BY IPS RADIO AND SPACE SERVICES
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE
SUMMARY FOR 22 SEPTEMBER AND FORECAST FOR 23 SEPTEMBER - 25 SEPTEMBER
STATUS INDICATORS SOL:GREEN MAG:GREEN ION: GREEN
-----------------------------------------------------------
1A. SOLAR SUMMARY
Activity 22 Sep: Very low

Flares: none.

Observed 10.7 cm flux/Equivalent Sunspot Number for 22 Sep: 130/84

1B. SOLAR FORECAST
             23 Sep 24 Sep 25 Sep
Activity Low Low Low
Fadeouts None expected None expected None expected
10.7cm/SSN 130/84 135/89 135/89

COMMENT: Solar activity was very low with only a C1 class flare
from Active Region 2173 (S15 E51) observed at 1951UT. Solar wind
speed remained at around 450 km/s. Following a sector boundary
crossing at 02UT, the Bz component of the Interplanetary Magnetic
Field maintained a mild Southward bias from 02 to 16UT. Expect
low activity next three days with the chance of isolated C- to
M-class events.

      Casey 11 33323213
      Mawson 21 34322454
      Davis 13 23433223

Observed Regional daily pc3 Indices 22 Sep :
      Darwin 19 (Quiet)
      Townsville 0 (Quiet)
      Learmonth 0 (Quiet)
      Alice Springs 0 (Quiet)
      Gingin 33 (Quiet to unsettled)
      Canberra 46 (Unsettled)

Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be
well correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic
survey flight-line data.

NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and International Center for Space Weather
Science and Education, Japan.

Estimated AFr/Ap Indices 22 Sep : A

2B. MAGNETIC FORECAST
Date Ap Conditions
23 Sep 8 Quiet to Unsettled
24 Sep 8 Quiet to Unsettled
25 Sep 10 Quiet to Unsettled

COMMENT: Mild negative solar wind IMF Bz during the mid part
of the UT day resulted in periods of Unsettled to Active geomagnetic
conditions at high latitudes. Conditions at low to mid latitudes
remained mostly Quiet, becoming briefly Unsettled 12-15UT. Expect
mostly Quiet conditions next three days with the chance of isolated
Unsettled intervals.
