SUBJ: IPS DAILY SOLAR AND GEOPHYSICAL REPORT
ISSUED AT 2330UT/01 SEPTEMBER 2013 BY IPS RADIO AND SPACE SERVICES
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE
SUMMARY FOR 01 SEPTEMBER AND FORECAST FOR 02 SEPTEMBER - 04 SEPTEMBER
STATUS INDICATORS SOL:GREEN MAG:GREEN ION: GREEN
-----------------------------------------------------------
1A. SOLAR SUMMARY
Activity 01 Sep: Low

Flares: none.

Observed 10.7 cm flux/Equivalent Sunspot Number for 01 Sep: 104/53

1B. SOLAR FORECAST
             02 Sep 03 Sep 04 Sep
Activity Low Low Low
Fadeouts None expected None expected None expected
10.7cm/SSN 105/54 108/58 110/60

COMMENT: Solar activity remains at Low levels with a single C1
class X-ray flare. The solar wind speed increased rapidly from
450 km/s to up to 600 km/s at around 06UT. This is most probably
the arrival of the CME observed early on the 30th of August.
The IMF Bt remained at nominal levels of less than 5nT after
this probable impact. The solar wind speed is expected to return
to nominal levels over the next day or so as the recent coronal
hole high speed stream and CME effects wane. Flare activity is
expected to remain at Low levels for the next 3 days.

Observed Regional daily pc3 Indices 01 Sep :
      Darwin 36 (Quiet to unsettled)
      Townsville 0 (Quiet)

      Gingin 0 (Quiet)
      Canberra 0 (Quiet)

Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be
well correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic
survey flight-line data.

NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and International Center for Space Weather
Science and Education, Japan.

2B. MAGNETIC FORECAST
Date Ap Conditions
02 Sep 8 Quiet to Unsettled
03 Sep 5 Quiet
04 Sep 5 Quiet

COMMENT: IPS Geomagnetic Warning 23 was issued on 31 August and
is current for 1-2 Sep. The CME impact expected on the 1st of
September appears to have occurred but without causing a geomagnetic
disturbance. Conditions are expected to be Quiet to Unsettled
over the next day as the currently moderate solar wind speeds
fall back to normal levels. Quiet conditions are expected for
the following 2 days.
