      Hobart 6 1211 223-
      Casey(Ant) 9 3-32 21-3

Observed Regional daily pc3 Indices 06 OCT :
      Townsville 0 (Quiet)
      Learmonth 8 (Quiet)
      Canberra 50 (Unsettled)
      Hobart 64 (Active)
Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3 indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3 indices for that station.

Estimated AFr/Ap Indices 06 Oct : A
           Fredericksburg 8
           Planetary 12

Observed AFr/Ap Indices 05 Oct : A K
           Fredericksburg 4

2B. MAGNETIC FORECAST
Date Ap Conditions
07 Oct 18 Active
08 Oct 12 Unsettled
09 Oct 10 Quiet to Unsettled
COMMENT: Mostly quiet geomagnetic conditions were observed over
the UT day. Solar wind speed increased to over 600 km/s during
the latter half of the UT day. IMF remained mostly northward
during the UT day, with a period of strong magnitude fluctuations
towards the end of the day. Isolated active periods in the geomagnetic
field were observed at high latitudes during this time. Solar
wind speed reamins elevated under the influence of a coronal
hole at the time of report issue. Expect unsettled conditions
today with isolated active periods.

PCA Event : No event.

3B. GLOBAL HF PROPAGATION FORECAST
	            Latitude Band
Date Low Middle High
07 Oct Normal Normal-Fair Fair

4A. AUSTRALIAN REGION IONOSPHERIC SUMMARY

Date T index
06 Oct 85

Observed Australian Regional MUFs
   Equatorial PNG Region:
Near predicted monthly values during local day.
Enhanced by 15% during local night and after
      local dawn.
   Northern Australian Region:
Near predicted monthly values during local day,
Enhanced by 20% during local night.
Southern Australian and New Zealand Region:
Enhanced by 15% during local day,
Enhanced by 20% during local night.
Enhanced by 25% after local dawn.
   Antarctic Region (Casey/Scott Base):
Enhanced by 25% over the UT day.

Predicted Monthly T index for October: 54

4B. AUSTRALIAN REGION IONOSPHERIC FORECAST
Date T index MUFs
07 Oct 85 5 to 15% above predicted monthly values
08 Oct 70 5 to 10% above predicted monthly values
09 Oct 85 5 to 15% above predicted monthly values
COMMENT: Widespread and persistent spread-F conditions observed
over the UT day S. Aus/NZ/Antarctic regions. Expect normal to
enhanced ionospheric propagation conditions today at low to mid
latitudes. Possibile periods of degradation over the next two
days in association with increased geomagnetic activity, especially
at high latitudes.
