NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and International Center for Space Weather
Science and Education, Japan.
Planetary G4 geomagnetic storm on 01-Jan. Australian region reached G3 on this
day.
2. FORECAST (02 JANUARY - 01 FEBRUARY)
Disturbed Periods:
2 Jan, 4-6 Jan.
Best Quiet Periods:
6-9 Jan, 21-26 Jan, 28 Jan.
3. FORECAST FOR HIGH RESOLUTION AEROMAGNETIC SURVEYS
Northern Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: None.
Best Quiet Periods: 9-27 Jan.
Central Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: None.
Mildly Disturbed periods: 4-6 Jan.
Best Quiet Periods: 9-27 Jan.
Southern Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: None.
Mildly disturbed periods: 4-6 Jan.
Best Quiet Periods: 9-27 Jan.
Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum of
20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be well
correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic survey
flight-line data.
PLEASE NOTE:
Geomagnetic activity can frequently be determined by short timescale
solar events that cannot be forecast a week in advance, particularly
at solar maximum.
