On UT day 05-Aug solar activity is expected to be R1-R2. A new large
active solar region has rotated onto the solar disk over the southeast
limb. The solar wind speed is expected to be light to moderate.
Southward interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) solar wind conditions
were observed 04/0100-1600UT. The planetary Kp-index reached G3 in
association with the sustained southward IMF conditions and regional
Australian conditions reached G2. Later in the UT day on 04-Aug a weak
shock was observed at 04/2125UT however northward IMF conditions then
followed. G0-G1 geomagnetic conditions are expected. S0 solar
radiation storm conditions are expected. HF radio communication
conditions are expected to be poor to fair early in the UT day for the
southern Australian region. Northern Australian region conditions are
expected to remain normal. Maximum usable frequencies (MUFs) are
expected to depressed 15-20% for the southern Australian region.
Northern Australian region MUFs are expected to be near predicted
values to 15% enhanced. Shortwave fadeouts are probable.
