Very low solar activity with a small chance for C-class flares is
expected for UT day 5 January. The solar wind speed is expected to
vary between moderate and strong levels due to arrival of high speed
solar wind streams associated with the recurrent trans-equatorial
coronal hole. Geomagnetic activity in the Australian region is
expected to be at quiet and unsettled levels; isolated active periods
are also possible. High-frequency radio communication users are
advised to use predicted monthly frequencies or slightly lower
frequencies because mild ionospheric depressions are possible due to
relatively low levels of ionising radiation from the Sun.
