Thu Jan 5 10:47:07 EST 2017
Very low solar flare activity is expected for today, 5 January. Strong
to very strong solar wind. Geomagnetic conditions are expected to be
at unsettled levels for the early part of the UT day 5 January, then
active to minor storm levels may be reached due to the recurrent
coronal hole. High-frequency radio communications are fair.
High-frequency radio communications users are advised to use lower
than monthly predicted frequencies today because the ionosphere is
under the influence of the strong solar wind and the HF conditions may
be further degraded due to an expected ionospheric storm. Aurora
sightings possible from Tasmania.
