The 10.7 cm solar flux declined from 201 on 6 July to 127 on 13 July,
and is expected to decline further during the next 3 days. The
background X ray flux is declining through the B class range. Solar
flare activity was low during 13 July. The largest event was a C6.4
X-ray flare from AR 2109 which is approaching the western limb. The
3-day outlook is for weak C class flares, but an isolated M class
event may occur today. The solar wind speed is presently near 350 km/s
and the magnitude of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) has
increased to 10 nT. Geomagnetic conditions were quiet on 13 July and
unsettled intervals are possible today. Conditions for HF radio
communication were slightly depressed throughout the Australian region
on 13 July. They are expected to soften because of declining solar
flux levels.
