Thu Jan 9 10:37:17 EST 2014
Moderate solar flare activity is expected for 9-Jan, with a chance of
X-class flares. Major coronal mass ejection effects are likely later
on 9-Jan due to the expected arrival of a CME observed on 7-Jan.
Strong to very strong solar wind is expected after the CME arrival,
with geomagnetic conditions reaching storm levels. High-frequency
radio communications should be normal across the Australian region,
but with degraded conditions at high latitudes. Short-wave radio
fadeouts are possible. Aurora sightings are possible (if skies are
clear) from southern Australian regions during local nighttime on
9-Jan.
