A long duration X-ray flare was observed close to the center of the
visible solar disc on the 15th of March UT. A coronal mass ejection
observed in association with this flare is expected to strike the
Earth late on the 16th or early on the 17th of March UT causing up to
Major Storm levels of geomagnetic activity. HF communication
conditions may be degraded as a result from late on the 17th of March
until the 19th.
