SUBJ: ASWFC GEOMAGNETIC DISTURBANCE WARNING 24/44
ISSUED AT 0642UT/13 AUGUST 2024
BY THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE WEATHER FORECASTING CENTRE.

Geomagnetic activity has currently declined with the most recent 
planetary Kp index below G1. The interplanetary magnetic field 
(IMF) remains enhanced by recent CME activity, with the north-south 
component of the IMF currently orientated northwards, reducing 
induced geomagnetic activity. There is a current risk of the 
enhanced IMF returning to a southwards orientation during the 
first half of on 13-Aug.

INCREASED GEOMAGNETIC ACTIVITY EXPECTED 
DUE TO CORONAL MASS EJECTION

13 Aug:  Chance of isolated G2-G3 conditions during the first half of UT day, 
         then G0-G1. An overall decline in activity is generally expected.
