COMMENT: Solar activity on UT day 04-Sep was at the R0 level,
due to an M1.2 flare at 04/0753UT. There are currently six numbered
sunspot regions, although several are very small at time of writing.
Active region (AR) 4525 (N12E66, beta) was responsible for the
M1.2 flare, which was the largest flare of the day. This region
may also have been responsible for the M-class on 02-Sep. This
region is very small and magnetically simple. All regions are
stable. Solar activity is expected to be at R0-R1 levels over
05-07 Sep, due to recent flare activity from AR 4525. S0 solar
radiation storm conditions on UT day 04-Sep were at the S0 level.
S0 solar radiation storm conditions are expected over 05-07 Sep.
No geoeffective CMEs were observed on 04-Sep. The solar wind
environment on UT day 04-Sep declined slightly and was at background
levels. The solar wind speed mostly ranged between 320 and 420
km/s and is currently at around 330 km/s. The peak total interplanetary
field strength (IMF, Bt) was 7 nT and the north-south IMF component
range was +5 to -4 nT. The solar wind speed is expected to remain
near background levels on 05-Sep. There is a chance of an increase
over 06-07 due to a small equatorial coronal hole rotating towards
a geoeffective position.

of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be
well correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic
survey flight-line data.
