1A. SOLAR SUMMARY

COMMENT: Solar flare activity on UT day 19-Jul was at the R0 
level, with no significant flaring activity. There are currently 
three numbered regions visible on the solar disk and one unnumbered 
region. Active region (AR) 4492 (N15E68, beta) is the largest 
on the disk and appears stable. Region 4489 (S07W15, beta) has 
shown development in its trailer spots over the UT day. An unnumbered 
region recently appeared near N01E25 (beta) and is showing spot 
growth. All other regions are in decay. Solar flare activity 
is expected to be at the R0 level over 20-22 Jul. S0 solar radiation 
storm conditions were observed on UT day 19-Jul. S0 solar radiation 
storm conditions are expected over 20-22 Jul. No Earth-directed 
coronal mass ejections (CMEs) have been observed. The solar wind 
speed on UT day 19-Jul decreased, ranging from 335 to 280 km/s 
and is currently near 290 km/s. The peak total interplanetary 
magnetic field strength (IMF, Bt) was 5 nT and the north-south 
IMF component (Bz) range was -4 to +4 nT. A narrow, elongated 
trans-equatorial coronal hole spanning both solar hemispheres 
is currently nearing the central meridian, and is expected to 
influence the solar wind speed on 22-Jul. The solar wind speed 
is expected to remain at background levels over 20-21 Jul, then 
increase on 22-Jul due to coronal hole high speed wind stream 
effects from the aforementioned coronal hole feature.

COMMENT: G0 geomagnetic conditions were observed in the planetary, 
Australian and Antarctic regions on UT day 19-Jul. G0 planetary 
geomagnetic conditions are expected over 20-21 Jul. G1 planetary 
geomagnetic conditions are expected on 22-Jul, with a chance 
of G2 due to coronal hole high speed wind stream effects from 
a narrow, elongated coronal hole feature.

COMMENT: Global high-frequency (HF) radio propagation conditions 
were mostly normal on UT day 19-Jul. Global HF propagation conditions 
are expected to be normal over 20-21 Jul. Fair conditions are 
expected on 22-Jul due to anticipated geomagnetic activity.

COMMENT: Maximum Usable Frequencies (MUFs) in the Australian 
region on UT day 19-Jul were mostly near predicted monthly values, 
with depressions up to 20% observed during local night hours 
in the northern Australian region. Strong spread-F was observed 
across the Australian region during local night hours. MUFs are 
forecast to be near predicted monthly values over 20-21 Jul, 
with some depressions possible during local night hours. MUFs 
are expected to be near predicted values to 15% depressed on 
22-Jul due to anticipated geomagnetic activity.
