COMMENT: Solar flare activity on UT day 30-Aug was R0, with no
significant flares. There are currently six numbered sunspot
regions on the solar disk. Active region (AR) 4513 (N04W71, beta)
has developed some trailing spots, but is not expected to resume
producing flares. AR 4520 (N08W06, beta) grew over the past day
but has since stabilised. All other sunspot regions are either
stable or in decay. Solar activity is expected to be R0 over
31-Aug and 1-2 Sep. A CME was observed from 1326 UT launching
from the northern solar hemisphere associated with a filament
eruption. This CME may have a weak arrival on 3-Sep. No other
Earth-directed CMEs were observed on UT day 30-Aug. S0 solar
radiation conditions were observed on UT day 30-Aug. S0 solar
radiation storm conditions are expected over 31-Aug and 1-2 Sep.
The solar wind environment on UT day 30-Aug was initially disturbed
due to ongoing CME and coronal hole effects, but began returning
to background levels in the second half of the day. The solar
wind speed ranged from 400-500 km/s. The peak total interplanetary
field strength (IMF, Bt) was 12 nT and the north-south IMF component
range (Bz) +8 to -9 nT. The solar wind environment is expected
to be mostly near background conditions over 31-Aug and 1-2 Sep,
with some brief enhancements possible as a thin and fragmented
coronal hole crosses the western hemisphere.

of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be
well correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic
survey flight-line data.

cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and International Center for Space Weather

COMMENT: On UT day 30-Aug geomagnetic conditions in the Australian
region were G0. Geomagnetic conditions in the Antarctic region
were mostly G0-G1. G0 geomagnetic conditions are expected over
31-Aug and 1-2 Sep.

COMMENT: HF radio propagation conditions on UT day 30-Aug were
mostly normal, with some degraded conditions in the northern
hemisphere in the first half of the day. HF radio propagation
conditions are expected to be mostly normal over 31-Aug and 1-2
Sep.

COMMENT: Maximum usable frequencies (MUFs) in the Australian
region on UT day 30-Aug were mostly near predicted values to
15% enhanced. Sporadic-E was observed in Niue and Canberra overnight
and spread-F was observed in Hobart. Some residual sporadic-E
is possible along the eastern coast of Australian during local
night hours on 31-Aug but is generally expected to recover over
1-2 Sep. MUFs are expected to be mostly near predicted values
to 15% enhanced over 31-Aug to 1-2 Sep.
