SUBJ: IPS DAILY SOLAR AND GEOPHYSICAL REPORT
ISSUED AT 13/2330Z APRIL 2008 BY IPS RADIO AND SPACE SERVICES
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE
SUMMARY FOR 13 APRIL AND FORECAST FOR 14 APRIL - 16 APRIL
STATUS INDICATORS SOL:GREEN MAG:GREEN ION: GREEN
-----------------------------------------------------------
1A. SOLAR SUMMARY
Activity 13 Apr: Very low
Flares: None
Observed 10.7 cm flux/Equivalent Sunspot Number for 13 Apr: 69/3

Fadeouts None expected None expected None expected
10.7cm/SSN 70/5 70/5 70/5
COMMENT: The solar wind speed ranged from approximately 550 to
640 km/s over the past 24 hours. The SOHO/LASCO imagery shows
ejection of material from the southern limb late on the 12 April
around 1850 UT and 2226 UT.

2A. MAGNETIC SUMMARY
Geomagnetic field for Australian Region 13 Apr: Quiet to unsettled.
Periods of activity were observed at high latitudes.
Estimated Indices 13 Apr : A K
Australian Region 10 22323322
Darwin 8 22213312
Townsville 9 22223322
Learmonth 11 22323421
Camden 7 11223311
Canberra - --------
Hobart 8 21223321
Casey(Ant) 15 3-433412
Observed Regional daily pc3 Indices 13 Apr :
Darwin 0 (Quiet)
Townsville 0 (Quiet)
Learmonth 0 (Quiet)
Canberra 4 (Quiet)
Hobart 36 (Quiet to unsettled)
Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be
well correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic
survey flight-line data.
NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and Space Environment Research Center, Japan.
Estimated AFr/Ap Indices 13 Apr : A
Fredericksburg 5
Planetary 5
Observed AFr/Ap Indices 12 Apr : A K
Fredericksburg 8
Planetary 11 2432 3122
2B. MAGNETIC FORECAST
Date Ap Conditions
14 Apr 5 Quiet to unsettled
15 Apr 5 Quiet to unsettled
16 Apr 5 Quiet to unsettled
COMMENT: Periods of activity still possible at high latitudes.
The CMEs noted above are not expected to be geo-effective.
