SUBJ: IPS DAILY SOLAR AND GEOPHYSICAL REPORT
ISSUED AT 17/2330Z NOVEMBER 2004 BY IPS RADIO AND SPACE SERVICES
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE
SUMMARY FOR 17 NOVEMBER AND FORECAST FOR 18 NOVEMBER - 20 NOVEMBER
STATUS INDICATORS SOL:** YELLOW ** MAG:GREEN ION: GREEN
-----------------------------------------------------------
1A. SOLAR SUMMARY
Activity 17 Nov: Very low
Flares: none.
Observed 10.7 cm flux/Equivalent Sunspot Number for 17 Nov: 105/54
1B. SOLAR FORECAST
18 Nov 19 Nov 20 Nov
Activity Low to moderate Low to moderate Low to moderate
Fadeouts Possible Possible Possible
10.7cm/SSN 110/60 110/60 110/60
COMMENT: Solar activity has been low again over the past 24 hours.
Solar wind conditions nominal. A spotless region has rotated
onto the solar disk, now located at N15E58, appearing as an area
of plage in Culgoora H-alpha imagery. In SOHO magnetograms it
appeas to have a bipolar configuration. Another solar region
is visible behind the limb in SOHO EIT 284 imagery. Either of
these two regions smay be old 691. At this stage however, there
appears to be little activity. The recent CME producer may be
the second of these regions. This CME was behind the limb and
not Earth directed. ACE EPAM precursor data channels are flat.
