SUBJ: IPS DAILY SOLAR AND GEOPHYSICAL REPORT
ISSUED AT 11/2330Z MAY 2004 BY IPS RADIO AND SPACE SERVICES
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE
SUMMARY FOR 11 MAY AND FORECAST FOR 12 MAY - 14 MAY
STATUS INDICATORS SOL:GREEN MAG:GREEN ION: GREEN
-----------------------------------------------------------
1A. SOLAR SUMMARY
Activity 11 May: Very low
Flares: none.
Observed 10.7 cm flux/Equivalent Sunspot Number for 11 May: 90/34
1B. SOLAR FORECAST
12 May 13 May 14 May
Activity Very low Very low Very low
Fadeouts None expected None expected None expected
10.7cm/SSN 90/34 90/34 95/41
COMMENT: Solar activity has been very low over the past 24 hours,
with only one recorded B1.0-class event. The Solar wind speed
remained on average 420 km/s and rose to 440km/h at 2000UT but
then began declining to 400km/h at the time of this report. Bz
fluctuated between +/-5nT from 0000UT to 0600UT where it remiained
northward. At 1700UT Bz turned soutthward and has remained so
since with a mximumj of 8nT. The solar activity is expected to
be low over the next few days, with an possible increase in the
solar wind stream parameters on 13 May due to a disappearing
filament from the area of region 606 observed on 10 May.
Previously M-flare(s) producing region 596 is due for return
to the south-east limb around 13 May.
