SUBJ: IPS DAILY SOLAR AND GEOPHYSICAL REPORT
ISSUED AT 29/2330Z AUGUST 2004 BY IPS RADIO AND SPACE SERVICES
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE
SUMMARY FOR 29 AUGUST AND FORECAST FOR 30 AUGUST - 01 SEPTEMBER
STATUS INDICATORS SOL:GREEN MAG:GREEN ION: GREEN
-----------------------------------------------------------
1A. SOLAR SUMMARY
Activity 29 Aug: Very low

Flares: none.

Observed 10.7 cm flux/Equivalent Sunspot Number for 29 Aug: 86/29

1B. SOLAR FORECAST
             30 Aug 31 Aug 01 Sep
Activity Low Low Low
Fadeouts None expected None expected None expected
10.7cm/SSN 85/27 90/34 110/60
COMMENT: Solar activity was very low over the last 24 hours,
with only minor B-class events produced by region 664. The solar
wind speed jumped from 400km/s to 450km/s at 0920UT as a glancing
blow from an eruptive prominence observed on 27/8 arrived. The
solar wind speed then declined to be 380km/s at the time of this
report. The north-south component of the interplanetary magnetic
field (Bz) ranged between 0nT to 10nT with a notable step increase
in its overall magnitude was also observed at 0920UT. No significant
change was observed in any current sunspot sizes or the magnetic
complexity of any regions on disk over the last 24hrs.
