ips-flare-alert -- Flare Alert

About ips-flare-alert
English (USA)

ASWFC Flare Alerts provide notification of an X-ray solar flare event greater than or equal to C9 in intensity. Note that numerous Flare Alerts may be issued when the Sun is particularly active.

Each Flare Alert consists of either two or three emails. The first email (Part A) notifies that the X-ray flux has reached the C9 level. The second email (Part B) is only issued if the flare peak has passed and the current X-ray flux is less than 80% of the peak flux but still above the M1.0 level. The last email (Part C) is issued once the X-ray flux is below the M1.0 level and advises the start, peak and end times of a flare.

US GOES satellite X-ray flux measurements are obtained from the US Space Weather Prediction Center. The data is from the GOES family of satellites.
The data used to generate these alerts is available at: US SWPC GOES xray data
