SUBJ: IPS WEEKLY GEOPHYSICAL REPORT
ISSUED ON 10 NOVEMBER 2011, BY IPS RADIO AND SPACE SERVICES,
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE
1. SUMMARY (01 NOVEMBER - 09 NOVEMBER)
K indices are in UT (0-24). For conversion to local time:
AEST = UT + 10 hours; ACST = UT + 9.5 hours; AWST = UT + 8 hours

*estimated from real time data
NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and Space Environment Research Center, Japan.
Mostly quiet, unsettled periods 1, 7 and 8 Nov. Isolated active to
minor storm levels on 1 Nov. A weak (15nT) impulse was observed in
the IPS magnetometer data at 0908UT on 01 Nov.
2. FORECAST (10 NOVEMBER - 10 DECEMBER)
Disturbed Periods:
active on 11 to 12 Nov, active 20 to 21 Nov and 28 Nov.
Best Quiet Periods:
14 to 19 Nov, 22 to 26 Nov and 30 Nov to 10 Dec.
3. FORECAST FOR HIGH RESOLUTION AEROMAGNETIC SURVEYS
Northern Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: None.
Best Quiet Periods: 10 Nov to 10 Dec.
Central Australian Regions:
Mildly Disturbed Periods: 11 to 12 Nov.
Best Quiet Periods: 14 to 20 Nov, 22 Nov to 10 Dec.
Southern Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: 11 to 12 Nov.
Best Quiet Periods: 14 to 20 Nov, 22 Nov to 10 Dec.
Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum of
20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be well
correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic survey
flight-line data.
PLEASE NOTE:
Geomagnetic activity can frequently be determined by short timescale
solar events that cannot be forecast a week in advance, particularly
at solar maximum.
