FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE

*estimated from real time data
NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and Space Environment Research Center, Japan.
Minor storm on 4 Aug.
Quiet to unsettled on other days.
2. FORECAST (05 AUGUST - 04 SEPTEMBER)
Disturbed Periods:
Minor storm on 5 Aug.
Active on 23 Aug.
Best Quiet Periods:
8 Aug to 9 Aug, 12 Aug to 18 Aug, 20 Aug to 22 Aug, 25 Aug to 29 Aug,
31 Aug.
3. FORECAST FOR HIGH RESOLUTION AEROMAGNETIC SURVEYS
Northern Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: 5 to 6 Aug.
Best Quiet Periods: 8 Aug to 30 Aug.
Central Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: 5 to 6 Aug.
Best Quiet Periods: 8 Aug to 30 Aug.
Southern Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: 5 to 6 Aug.
Best Quiet Periods: 8 Aug to 21 Aug, 27 Aug to 30 Aug.
Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum of
20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be well
correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic survey
flight-line data.
PLEASE NOTE:
Geomagnetic activity can frequently be determined by short timescale
solar events that cannot be forecast a week in advance, particularly
at solar maximum.
