*estimated from real time data
Geomagnetic activity has been at mostly unsettled to active levels
during the week. The cause has been a high speed coronal hole wind
stream which the Earth encountered earlier than expected. Due to
the irregular shape of this feature, the solar wind stream has
persisted longer than originally estimated, and has only shown
signs of decline during the UT day Jan 20. Further geomagnetic
disturbance is anticipated in consequence of moderate solar flare
activity late in the week.
2. FORECAST (22 JANUARY - 21 FEBRUARY)
Disturbed Periods:
22-23 Jan, 24-25 Jan, 28 Jan, 01-06 Feb.
Best Quiet Periods:
08-10 Feb, 15-21 Feb.
PLEASE NOTE:
At this time of the solar cycle, space weather conditions
are frequently determined by short timescale events, not
able to be forecasted a week in advance.
