Solar activity on UT day 2-Jan is expected to be at the R1-R2 level,
with a chance of R3. The solar wind speed is expected to be light to
moderate. G0 geomagnetic conditions, with a chance of G1 are expected.
A fast CME was observed following an X5.0 flare on 31-Dec, this event
is expected to produce a glancing impact with Earth early on 3-Jan,
with a chance of an early impact on 2-Jan. HF radio communication
conditions are expected to be mostly normal. Maximum usable
frequencies (MUFs) in the Australian region are expected to be near
predicted monthly values to 15% enhanced. Shortwave fadeouts are
probable.
