On UT day 05-Feb solar activity is expected to be R1-R2, with isolated
R3 flare activity possible. There are currently two solar regions on
the visible solar disk with good flare potential. The solar wind speed
is expected to be moderate due the Earth entering a coronal hole wind
stream from 04/0900UT. The expected glancing blow from a recent CME
has failed to eventuate. Little geomagnetic activity was induced on
entry into the solar wind stream and generally G0 geomagnetic
conditions are now expected, with a slight chance of a G1 period. HF
radio communication conditions are expected to be normal, with maximum
usable frequencies near predicted monthly values to 15% enhanced.
There is an increased chance for shortwave fadeouts. There is a chance
for an S1 solar radiation storm event if a significant solar flare
eventuates.
