The Australian regional geomagnetic field unexpectedly briefly reached
G1 overnight, in association with an interval of southward
interplanetary magnetic field conditions from 22/0830-1700UT. The
regional ionosphere has responded to this geomagnetic activity with
southern Australian regional MUFs becoming depressed by up to 30%
after local dawn this morning. Northern Australian regional MUFs are
currently near normal.
