Two solar regions have produced isolated R1 flare activity on 27-Dec.
Solar activity on UT day 28-Dec is expected to be at R0-R1 level. The
geomagnetic field was at G0 levels overnight and is expected to be at
G0 levels for 28-Dec. The solar wind speed is expected to be moderate
on 28 Dec with a declining trend as influences from a coronal hole and
possible weak CME effects abate. The Australian ionosphere yesterday
had an unexpected positive response on 27-Dec to the previous nights
geomagnetic activity with enhancements of up to 50% observed at some
sites. For 28-Dec the Australian region maximum usable frequencies are
expected to be 15% depressed to near predicted monthly values. A minor
fadeout was observed 27/0049-0105UT, further isolated minor shortwave
fadeouts are possible.
