Very low levels of solar flare activity are expected for today, 17
September. The Earth is still under the influence of the very high
solar wind speeds associated with a large polar coronal hole. As a
result, the geomagnetic conditions in the Australian region are
expected to be between quiet and active levels with possible isolated
minor storm periods. High-frequency radio communication users are
advised to use near monthly predicted frequencies. A disappearing
solar filament from near solar centre starting at 16/0906 UT and a
possible associated CME was observed at starting 16/1212 UT in the
satellite imagery. More updates on this event will be provided after
the completion of the model runs.
