[ips-sf] SWS Summary Forecast for 24 November - issued 2351UT/23-Nov-2016 [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

Thu Nov 24 10:51:30 EST 2016

Very low solar flare activity with a slight chance of Low activity.
The effect of a large irregular shape coronal hole is expected to keep
the solar wind stream enhanced for the next three days. Geomagnetic
activity did not rise to the expected levels today (23 November) due
to weaker than expected solar wind stream from the coronal hole and Bz
not turning negative enough. Geomagnetic activity stayed mostly at
Quiet to Unsettled levels today. If the Interplanetary Magnetic Field
(IMF) turns southward for a prolonged period, geomagnetic activity may
reach Major Storm levels, particularly at higher latitudes. Thus there
is chance that aurora may be visible at the local night, today, from
Tasmania and parts of Victoria, Australia. HF radio communications
fair at low to mid latitudes with degraded conditions at high
latitudes.
