COMMENT: Solar activity was very low during 23 Jan UT. There
were only B-class solar X-ray flares. C-class flares are possible
today and there is a small chance of an M-class flare during
the next three days. SOHO LASCO coronographs recorded a bright
CME leaving the solar limb toward the north east commencing during
20 UT on 22 Jan. This event will not be geoeffective. The IMF
Bz component fluctuated between -5 nT and +6 nT up until 07 UT
on 23 Jan. It has since been varying in the range -3 nT to +3
nT. The solar wind speed was mostly in the range 400-500 km/s
and is presently about 380 km/s and trending downward.

Observed Regional daily pc3 Indices 23 Jan :
      Darwin 0 (Quiet)
      Townsville 0 (Quiet)

      Canberra 0 (Quiet)

Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be
well correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic
survey flight-line data.

NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and International Center for Space Weather
Science and Education, Japan.
