SUBJ: IPS DAILY SOLAR AND GEOPHYSICAL REPORT
ISSUED AT 19/2330Z AUGUST 2001 BY IPS RADIO AND SPACE SERVICES
FROM THE AUSTRALIAN SPACE FORECAST CENTRE
SUMMARY FOR 19 AUGUST AND FORECAST FOR 20 AUGUST - 22 AUGUST
STATUS INDICATORS SOL:GREEN MAG:GREEN ION: GREEN
-----------------------------------------------------------
1A. SOLAR SUMMARY
Activity 19 Aug: Low

Flares: none.

Observed 10.7 cm flux/Equivalent Sunspot Number for 19 Aug: 158/112

GOES satellite data for 18 Aug
Daily Proton Fluence >1 MeV: 6.2E+06
Daily Proton Fluence >10 MeV: 9.4E+05
Daily Electron Fluence >2 MeV: NA
       X-ray background: B5.9
Fluence (flux accumulation over 24hrs)/ cm2-ster-day.

1B. SOLAR FORECAST
             20 Aug 21 Aug 22 Aug
Activity Low Low Low
Fadeouts None expected None expected None expected
10.7cm/SSN 160/114 165/119 170/124

COMMENT: The north-south component of the interplanetary magnetic
field remained northward for much of the UT day. Solar wind conditions
now nominal.
ACE EPAM data indicates an energetic ion enhancement event beginning
19/1815UT, which can be a precursor to increased geomagnetic
activity over next 24-36 hours.

Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3 indices are the daily sum
of 20 minute pc3 indices for that station.
