Comment: No significant ionospheric depressions were
observed in the Australian regional ionosphere in the
past week. Solar region AR4079 currently located in the
northeast solar quadrant may produce R1, chance R2 flare
activity in the coming week, dependent on this
regions evolution as it transits the solar disk, with CME
risk potentially increasing toward the end of the week as
AR4079 approaches the solar central meridian.
2. FORECAST (30 APRIL - 06 MAY)
MUFS: Southern Australian region MUFs may become
briefly depressed after local dawn on 02-03 May and
06-08 May. MUFs are expected to be near predicted
monthly values on other days.
Propagation conditions: Fair during 02-03 May and 06-08 May
during local night hours. Isolated SWFs impacting lower HF
frequencies are possible all week.
T index: 125
ASWFC SWF HF Communications Warning 42 was issued on 29 April
and is current for 29 Apr to 1 May.
3. OUTLOOK (07 MAY - 06 JUNE)
Degraded HF propagation conditions possible:
07-08 May, 19-20 May, 28-29 May, 01-05 Jun
PLEASE NOTE:
Space weather conditions can frequently be determined by short
timescale events that cannot be forecast a week in advance,
particularly at solar maximum.
