Very low solar activity is expected for today, UT day 23 January. The
solar wind is expected stay at its nominal levels for the early part
of today and then begin to enhance in response to arrival of the
coronal hole effects. Geomagnetic activity in the Australian region is
expected to increase to Unsettled to Active levels today, and at times
may even reach minor storms. It is possible but not very probable that
aurora may be visible during local nighttime hours from Tasmania.
High-frequency radio communication users are advised to use slightly
lower to near predicted monthly frequencies due to very low levels of
ionising radiation from the Sun.
