Very low levels of solar flare activity is expected for today, 11
October. The solar wind speed is currently light but expected to reach
Strong to Very Strong levels over the next few hours due to high speed
streams emanating from a Northern Hemisphere coronal hole. The
geomagnetic conditions at Earth today are expected to reach Active
levels. IMF Bz is currently sustaining a southward orientation at -8
nT, Minor Storm conditions may occur provided IMF Bz maintained
strongly southward for a prolonged period. High-frequency radio
communications Fair to Normal. Chance of aurora sightings from
southernmost Australian regions should Strong solar wind speed and
prolonged southward Bz conditions develop (as well as favourable
viewing conditions).
