On 19 July at 23:00 UT a shock wave was detected in the solar wind.
This shock is probably associated with a CME that was observed by
LASCO instrument on 17 July. Due to the shock wave a geomagnetic
sudden impulse was observed and a geomagnetic storm has commenced. On
20 July geomagnetic conditions may reach major storm levels with a
small chance of isolated severe storm periods. Aurora can be observed
in Tasmania, on the coastline of Victoria and on the southwest coast
of Western Australia.
