Solar flare activity was low during 4 July UT, and it is expected to
be low with a small chance of an isolated M class flare during the
next 2 days. Hydrogen alpha solar telescopes recorded the eruption of
a large solar prominence from the North East limb during 18 to 19 UT.
Any associated CME will not be geoeffective. Fast solar wind arrived
at Earth during late 4 Jul. The solar wind speed increased from 300
km/s at 00 UT to about 600 km/s during 20 UT. Geomagnetic conditions
were quiet during the first half of 4 Jul, reaching minor storm levels
(Kp=5) during the second half of the day. Geomagnetic conditions are
expected to active today, 5 Jul, decreasing to unsettled on 6 Jul UT.
Conditions for HF radio wave propagation were mildly depressed
throughout the Australian region during 4 July. The conditions may be
enhanced today due to a positive geomagnetic storm effect.
