Sun Dec 27 11:45:50 EST 2015
Solar activity during the past 24 hours was at low levels with only
C-class flares, which were all from Region 2473. This region is
currently located at S22E13 and would soon be approaching a more
direct earth facing position. As anticipated, the coronal mass
ejection (CME) associated with eruption from Region 2473 at 24/0636 UT
appear to have caused a weak enhancement in solar wind conditions at
Earth around 26/2000 UT. The solar wind peaked to 640 km/s at the
arrival of the shock. The current solar wind speed is near 500 km/s. A
favourable IMF Bz condition may lead to aurora sightings from Tasmania
during the local night. Conditions for HF radio wave propagation are
good and MUFs are slightly higher than the predicted monthly values.
