Solar activity was very low during 23 Jan UT. There were only B-class
solar X-ray flares. C-class flares are likely to occur during the next
48 hours. The bright Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) observed leaving the
north east limb of the solar disk during 20 UT on 22 Jan will not be
geoeffective. A CME did not deliver a glancing blow to the Earth
during 23 Sep. The solar wind speed is declining and is presently
about 380 km/s. Geomagnetic activity has been quiet and is expected to
remain quiet during the next 48 hours. Conditions for HF radio
communication are expected to remain enhanced to strongly enhanced
throughout the Australian region.
